Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has stated that Spanish side and 2021 Europa League winners, Villarreal were programmed to win the title, Bestchoocesports.com.ng can report

Oliseh who also was captain of the senior national team stated this in a post on his Facebook timeline.

The former Borrusia Dortmund midfielder said that the final between Villarreal and Manchester United felt like a “David Vs Goliath scenario” adding that the team were technically rounded with limited budget to defeat the former champions.

“Felt like a David Vs. Goliath scenario to some. But as those who have watched Villareal regularly in la Liga & D (the) Europa League will tell you, they were programmed to win this trophy.

“Tactically & physically well rounded with a very limited Budget comparably.

“Guess we love underdogs,” he said.

Villarreal defeated Manchester United 11-10 on penalties on Wednesday after regulation and extra time ended one-all to win their first ever major trophy in history.
