Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has hailed the performance of new players in the team Terem Moffi, Abraham Marcus and Valentine Ozornwafor against perennial rivals, Cameroon.
The trio made their first Super Eagles appearance on Friday as the Eagles lost 1-0 to the Indomitable Lions in a friendly played in Vienna, Australia.
Rohr who played down the scoreline noted that the matches are meant to give new players a chance and try new systems ahead of the September 2022 World Cup qualifications.
“It was opportunity to see (Terem) Mofi, he played well, Olayinka (Peter) also had a good end match at the right side and we saw Marcus (Abraham), he was good also. Valentine who came in for the end as well,” Rohr said.
He expressed optimism that the new players have added competition to the team noting that they could likely make the 23-mam squad for the two World Cup qualifiers in three months’ time
“That is interesting and we will see again in the next game if they will be in the 23-man list.
“Now there will be competition but it is good to give them the chance and all of them are happy that they are Super Eagles players.”
