Africa’s football umpire, the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF has disclosed they will commence investigation on the invasion of the pitch by fans during Saturday’s Confederation Cup Final.

A section of the fans in Benin Republic invaded the pitch towards the end of the final match between Raja Casablanca of Morocco and JS Kabilye of Algeria

Raja won the match by 2-1 but CAF has said that it will open investigation following invasion in the pitch which affected presentation of awards

“CAF is investigating the incident that took place during the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup final fixture between Raja Club Athletic and JS Kabylie in Cotonou, Benin on Saturday, 10 July 2021,” CAF said Wednesday.

“A section of fans invaded the field following the final whistle affecting the events leading to the medal and trophy presentation.”

CAF strongly condemned the action declaring nit “unacceptable behavior which is harmful to the image of one of its competitions. CAF has opened a disciplinary investigation in order to determine the root cause and people responsible and apply possible sanctions, with the aim of preventing future occurrence of such acts.”
