NTF Meets Police Taekwondo Boss Over IGP Open

The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation is set to meet with current boss of the Nigeria Police Taekwondo Association [NIPOTA], Mrs Stella Ebikefe this week over the proposed 8th Inspector
-General of Police Taekwondo Championships scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt Rivers States between 25 and 27 July 2019, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

In an official letter to the President of the Federation, Mrs Margaret Elizabeth Binga, made available to our correspondent, the Nigeria Police Taekwondo Association boss informed the Federation of the annual event and enlisted the technical assistance of the Federation with regards to the organisation of the championships.

“With compliments and full regards to your office, the Nigeria Police Taekwondo Association with the permission of the incumbent IGP have concluded arrangements to host the 2019 edition of the IGP cup at the Civic Centre Port Harcourt between 25th and 27th July 2019.

“Specifically, we request your support towards making the 8th IGP Cup a ranking tournament as done with other version of military/ paramilitary championships,” part of the letter read.

The Police Taekwondo boss further requested meeting with the Federation to discuss the logistics and other requirements that would make the event a success.

In response, the Federation through the Secretary-General, Yusuf Kabir, commended the Nigeria Police Taekwondo for the consistency of the event and promised the Federation would give backing to the event, once all conditions for ensuring the event met with NTF event requirements have been fulfilled.

“I am directed to acknowledge your letter and commend Nigeria Police Taekwondo for the consistency of the IGP Taekwondo tournament over the years, that has ensured the event has become intertwined with Nigeria Taekwondo history.

“We would work hand-in-hand with you to ensure that the Nigeria Taekwondo practitioners can benefit from yet another wonderful competitive experience”

Meeting has been scheduled to hold at the end of the week at the Federation’s head office at the National Stadium Abuja.

Over 200 athletes will be expected to compete at this year’s edition of the IGP Taekwondo Championships.
