Argentina Coach, Marcelo Zuleta Applies For Super Eagles Coaching Job

As speculations surrounding the future of current Super Eagles Coach, Gernert Rohr continues to heighten, more names have been added to the list of candidates justling for the hot seat.
The latest addition to the growing list is the former Dinamo Tirana of Albania Coach, Marcelo Javier Zuleta who has shown interest in the yet-to-be-declared vaccant Super Eagles job.
The widely travelled 57 years old coach had also handled Ecudorian League One side, Depotiva Universitaria and had also served as Assistant Coach to the Haitian senior national team.
Mr Zuleta is the current coach of Ecuadorian Serie A league club, LDU Portoviejo which he joined in 2020 and was born in the city of Berisso, Argentina.
Confirming the application of Mr Zuleta for the Super Eagles job, a source at Nigeria Football Federation, NFF in Abuja said they’ve “just received an application of a certain Argentina coach showing interest in the Eagles job.”
Zuleta’s interest is touted to being represented by a renowned sports management outfit, Adniel Sports Management.
It’s expected that the NFF would name a new coach for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks.
Current handler of the team, Gernot Rohr has been reportedly sacked last week but the NFF denied the initial report on Thursday November 18 saying “The Board of the NFF is studying the report of the Technical Committee, which it submitted after the match against Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday. There are a number of possibilities but we have not taken a decision to sack Gernot Rohr. I want to assure that whatever decision is eventually taken will be one that will please the generality of Nigerians,” President of the federation, Amaju Pinnick said.
