CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United Record Slim Win Against Al Masry

Nigeria’s representative at the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United Sunday recorded a slim victory against Al Masry of Egypt in the first leg play-off of the CAF Confederation Cup in Aba, South East Nigeria.
Rivers United who are using the Enyimba International FC Stadium as their adopted home ground defeated the visitors 2-1 at home.
Malachi Ohawume and Uche Onwuansanya combined in the 25th minute inside the box and the latter intelligently sloted home for the game’s opener
However, the Pride of Rivers joy was shortlived as Al Masry drew level almost immediately on the 27th minute.
Malachi Ohawume provided another assist this time as Ishaq Kayode scored on the 35th minute to restore their lead as both headed to the rooms for the first half interval.
There was little to come by in the second half as the match ended 2-1 in favour of the home side.
Rivers United will need to work harder to retain their slim lead when they go to Egypt for the return leg on Sunday, December 5.
The aggregate winner of the two-leg play-off will qualify for the group stage
