Super Eagles AFCON Elimination: Please, Leave Maduka Okoye Alone!
Those who blame Maduka Okoye for Nigeria’s defeat yesterday are either myopic in watching and understanding football or have a different agenda.
The campaign to make the young lad an escape goat for yesterday’s sad ouster from the 2021 AFCON is being orchestrated by individuals who fans the ember of tribal bigotry.
It is a shame comments and post coming from people, journalists particularly, who single out the young goalkeeper for opprobrium.
Everybody claims not to have seen the gap in the defence that led to the goal nor the deflection that made the ball to change direction when Maduka was almost on ground to pick the ball.
Also, The NFF should not be shield from blame for disorganizing the team less than three weeks to kick-off of a big tournament like AFCON. Rohr’s sack, long overdue though, was ill-timed.
Whatever be the situation, there is a greater picture ahead, there will be no excuse not to qualify for 2022 Word Cup in Qatar in November.
