Rampaging non-league outfit, Mahanaim Football Club on Tuesday thrashed National Youth Service Corps Football Club, NYSC FC 3-0 in the quarter-final of the 2022 FCT Aiteo/FA Cup

The victory handed the young ebullient attacking stars their ticket into the semi-final of the Aiteo/FA Cup

It was a match that the Mahanaim FC had all for themselves and the scoreline could have been much higher than the 3-0 final score had the players effectively utilized their plethora of goal opportunities they created.

Two first half goals from Adeleke Ismail in the early stage of the game and Friday Samson’s strike including the Idam Sunday’s second half goal, gave the talented Mahanaim FC the deserved victory and ticket.

Although they came into the match with bookmakers regarding them as the underdogs, they proved their mettle as they made the Youth Service men look ordinary in the game.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Best Choice Sports after the final whistle, Mahanaim FC caoch, Saheed Olalekan Jimoh popularly Known as Seedof, reckoned that the math, like every other one, was never an easy encounter but said that his boys playing according to instructions made the game look so easy.

He noted that the lapses noticed in the team missing many goal scoring opportunities would be corrected stressing that the team’s target of winning the FCT Aiteo/FA Cup remains intact.

“It was never an easy match. Like every other game, it was never easy but we take them one match a time,” he started.

“One thing is the fact that my boys played according to instructions and that made the game look easy. NYSC FC is a solid team and our winning them evokes a great feeling of joy.

“The match could have ended in a higher goal, 6 or 7 but the boys were not clinical enough. Their inability to covert their opportunities into results is one of the lapses we noted in the match and we will work on them in our next gam

“From the beginning, our target has remained the same, to win the cup. It has not changed and it will not change.”

Their giants strides so far has brought plenty of attention to the club with the club’s philosophy and style of play built on playing the ball on the ground and letting the young players show their technical prowess in the pitch.
