FCT Handball Association Sponsors Three Teams To National U-12/U-15 Championship

In matching words with action in making handball the alternative sport to football in the Federal Capital, the FCT Handball Association led by its chairman, Ambassador Edward Olutoke have sponsored three teams to participate in the 3rd edition of the National U-12/U-15 Handball Championship in Sokoto State, North-West, Nigeria.

The FCT Handball Association sponsored a total of 44 players and five officials to the championship which began on Sunday.

The Association presented three teams made up of U-12 female with 15 players, U-12 and U-15 male male teams made up of 14 and 15 players in that order.

Speaking in an interview with the FCT Handball Association Media Crew from his holiday base in the United States of America, USA, Amb. Olutoke said that the sponsorship of the players and officials to the National Handball Championship was in line with hiss drive to make handball a household name in the FCT and also provide a platform for the hidden talents to be discovered.

“We have a project in FCT handball, to make handball alternative sport to football and the only way we can do that is by encouraging these young ones from their tender age to play the game.

“We don’t have sponsors yet but we are not relenting. We will continue to do our best to fish out the hidden talents in the FCT and give them exposure,” he said.

FCT three teams were made up of the players selected from the FCT U-12/U-15 Handball Championship held in April this year.
