The General-Secretary, Nigeria Football Federation, Sanusi Mohammed has disclosed that his $10, 000 (₦4.5 million) monthly salary he is paid by the federation is personal adding that he is a contract staff, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Sanusi made the statement in response to media report on Monday that exposed the staggering amount of money he is paid on monthly basis as NFF scribe.

News emerged Monday that Mr Sanusi earns over ₦4.5 million from salary. The salary structured, it was gathered, was said to have been reviewed by the Amaju Pinnick led board in 2019.

The money is paid through a dedicated FIFA fund.

But in response, Mr Sanusi, who did not refute the report, claimed that the report was done out of tribalism, religious sentiment and selfishness.

In a post he made in a media platform, made available to Best Choice Sports, Mr Sanusi in a badly worded post, wondered why those who engineered the report did not go to Morocco, Egypt and Algeria to ascertain how much the General-Secretaries earn.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets failed to qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup

“Good morning, gentlemen. I saw this here just now and the response of people. It is painful that we are discussing people instead of issues, but since that is what we want to reduce ourselves to, it is OK. Some people have decided to fight me not for any reason but personal and selfish interest.

“What has my salary got to do with infrastructural development. I am on contract, not on permanent and pensionable work, with the right to negotiate my wages, which I did with the NFF Board. The question I ask the righter [SIC] Mr Right, (I presume he is referring to me) has he asked why the Coach of Super Eagles earns $70, 000 monthly?

“Who is the boss between the coach and the General Secretary, who also went to the University to obtained [SIC] a PhD, who is also a coach ( CAF A Licensed), leader of all the General Secretaries of African Football, a visiting Lecturer in Human Kinetics and Health Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria ( on no payment)?

“What is playing here is TRIBALISM and SENTIMENT, not upcourse [SIC] eliminating political inclination. Did not plan the NFF elections that took place. There is someone on this forum who is busy propagating falsehood about me.

“There is nobody who served in the last board or serving in the present board who does not know the salary of the General Secretary, instead of coming out to talk honestly and sincerely they joined in castigation.

“My salary is personal. Has anybody cared to ask how much the Secretary General of Morocco FA, Egypt FA, Algeria FA, go home with at the end of the year?

“Some people play to the gallery, some based on ignorance, and some are based on sentiment ( ethics, religion, and political). But guess what, from the day we were born to the day we will die, God has decreed what we will and what we will not.

“So, please stop the campaign of calumny, because you are fighting God.”

Sanusi’s contract with the NFF runs till December 2023.

Mohammed Sanusi became NFF General-Secretary in March 2015. He replaced Musa Amadu who resigned on March 18, 2015 following intractable imbroglio with the then NFF President, Amaju Pinnick
