Nigeria has made histroy after she emerged the second best country in Africa in Teqball competition, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Nigeria represented by two players, Thankgod Chukwuemeka Adindu and Emmanuel Ogonna Nwabueze of Dreamland Academy, Abia State, on Thursday won silver at the just concluded 1st African Teqball Beach Games (SAL 2019) in Cape Verde.

June 18th, 2019 will surely be historic in sports as Teqball in Nigeria etched the name of the country on history book after she won her first medal in teqball which is classified as an Olymipc sport.

The two players from Dreamland Football who represented Nigeria in the the 1st African Beach Games (SAL 2019) in Cape Verde defeated Mauritius 20 – 10 in their first match, beat Algeria 20 -14 in second match humiliated the host team, Cape Verde 20 – 10 in the semi finals but lost 15 – 20 to Cameroon in the finals to emerge the second best team in Africa.

The two players who were singlehandedly sponsored by the chairman of Dreamland Academy, Ndudi Edede Emmanuel enjoyed massive support from the entire Team Nigeria contingent that participated in the sports.

Speaking on the feat, Dreamland Chairman/CEO, Mr Ndudi said he is proud of the boys and regretted his inability to travel with the boys due to other pressing engagements.

He also commemded the Embassy of Hungary for introduing teqball in Nigeria

“I am so proud of Thankgod and Emmanuel following their exploit in the just concluded tournament in Cape Verde. It was highly emotional rembrering few challenges they faced enroute to the competition. I was not able to travel with them due to my tight schedule but was always in touch with them and also monitored their welfare and progress through Ari Bekker – Teqball Tournamemt Cordinator and Dr. Sam Ogbon – Team Nigeria Physio.

“Winning Silver in the tournament is a great achievement owing to the fact that they used the teqball table in our camp in less than six months. It goes a long way to prove that we have abondant talents in this country.

“It is impotant to build on this succees to further develope this sport in Nigeria. I thank the Federation International de Teqball (FITEQ) and the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja for their committment to ensure teqball is developed in Nigeria as a sports.”
