AFCON 2019: Super Eagles Make N715m For 3rd-Place Finish
Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles have made for themselves 715 million naira ($2m) for finishing third at the just concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria beat Tunisia 1-0 on Wednesday to claim their 8th AFCON bronze medal.
According to CAF’s money distribution for participating countries at the AFCON 2019, champions Desert Foxes of Algeria will receive $4.5m while Teranga Lions of Senegal who emerged first runners-up, will collect $2.5m.
Hosts, Pharaohs, who were eliminated in the second round, will console themselves with $670, 000, while Angola and Kenya and other teams who finished third in their groups will pocket $620, 000 each.
Those who reached the Round of 16 will earn $670,000 each
Quarterfinalists, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, South Africa and Benin, CAF said, will receive $800, 000 each with semi-finalists, Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia pocketing $2m each.
