At the Cameroon Grand prix over the weekend, the Nigerian athletes who participated at the meet were in awesome form winning their races individually and in relay team.

The centre of attraction was Emmanuel Arowolo whose performance gave him the ticket to the 2019 world athletics championship in Doha.

Arowolo made the IAAF World Championships standard A in the 200m with the personal best time of 20.37s (No wind reading included) at the Cameroon Grand Prix where he placed first.

The win took Arowolo to second on the Nigerian list.

It was another impressive performance at the Cameroon Grand Prix also for Enoch Adegoke who posted an impressive 10.15s (NWI) to win the 100m. If wind is confirmed legal, it’ll be a new PB for the young champ.

Veteran quartermiler Patience Okon-George raced to a SB of 52.27s to win the 400m event. Doing so, she erased her prev best of 52.28s set at the African Games trials in Abuja.

Meanwhile, at the relay event, team Nigeria gave wonderful performance as they dominated in the relay races.

In the Women’s 4x400m relay, Team Nigeria came first with a time of 3:32.21.

The team had;

In the Men’s 4x400m relay,Team Nigeria also placed first with a time of 3:05.81.

The team had;

1. Orukpe Erayokan

3. Akpeki Shadrack Wengemeyie

4. Emmanuel Ojeli

For the Men’s 4x100m Relay, Team Nigeria placed first with a time of 39.43s.

The team had;

1. Enoch Adegoke

2. Alaba Akintola

3. Arowolo Emmanuel

4. Igube Thankgod

The purpose of the meet, is qualification for the relays at the IAAF World Championships in Doha later this year.
