More Troubles For Shehu Dikko As Sept. 26 Arraignment Looms
Ahead of the September 26th, 2019 arraignment of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF top officials before the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, over diversion of billions of naira FIFA grant to Nigeria for football development, the 2nd Vice President of the football body, Alhaji Shehu Dikko’s house in Abuja has been sealed off by the Independent and Corrupt Practices and other offences Commission, ICPC following fresh financial misappropriation, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The house was sealed Friday morning by the commission over a fresh corruption investigation on the federation. This paper reported last week that the top NFF officials are under fresh investigation over the management of sponsorship monies by the administration. NFF has over 10 companies, cooperate bodies as well as states who sponsor it during matches and competitions, yet they always run to the Federal Government for bail out during competitions.
According to the ICPC, the investigation is to uncover financial malpractices in the football association, allegedly involving Dikko and other executives.
Rasheedat Okoduwa, ICPC spokesperson, told TheCable that Dikko’s property was sealed following fresh corruption charges against him and some other executives of the NFF.
“It is true that ICPC sealed Shehu Dikko’s Maitama residence this morning,” she said.
“He is being investigated with others over fresh corruption charges. It has nothing to do with the cases of SPIP or EFCC.”
The NFF has been on the watch-list of the anti-corruption agencies. The federation is also currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property (SPIP).
The executives of the federation have been accused of diverting funds meant for the association.
NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi, 2nd Vice President, Alhaji Shehu Dikko as well as board member, Yusuf Fresh are expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, September 26 following a criminal allegation of embezzlement of billions of FIFA grant to the federation for football development in the country by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property (SPIP).
