Former Super Eagles striker, Jude Odion Ighalo has stated that he was born in the ghetto of Ajegunle in Lagos, Nigeria’s centre of excellence with nothing, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Ighalo retired from international football after winning highest goal scorers award at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt with 5 goals.

All though his impressive form was impided by injury which sidelined him for months from club duties, he has rediscovered his form in the Chinese Super League.

Ighalo has been very much active on social media especially Twitter in motivating aspiring footballers and others who have interest in other endeavours to always work hard and wait for God’s grace to see them through in their preferred careers.

In a tweet that has generated over 4,000 comments, Ighalo said he was born in a ghetto Ajegunle in Lagos, Nigeria with nothing but through hardwork and grace of God, he succeeded and advised other aspiring talents not to give up in their dreams.

“I was born in a ghetto in ajegunle with nothing. I work hard to be where I’m today and with the Grace of God. You can do it too don’t give up. Impossible is nothing,” he tweeted.

Many followers appreciated him for the inspiring words but one fan was particular to ask him why he did not go to Spanish giants, Barcelona in August, Ighalo said he turned down the offer because the future of his career is more important to him

“Why didn’t you take the barca job when it came…you’ve been rocking their shirt from way back senior man,” the fan asked

“Bcos (because) I think about my future bro, 6 months loan and 3 years contract which is better?

“That was why I said few days ago that happiness is a choice but some people didn’t get it, I was smiling then without nothing

“Everything in life is possible trust me,” he said.
