Super Eagles forward Akor Adams says Nigeria are determined to maintain their winning start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they face Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on Tuesday.

Adams spoke exclusively ahead of today’s clash with Guinea-Bissau, making it clear that the team’s target is to win every game in the qualifying campaign.

Nigeria came from behind to beat Madagascar in their opening fixture in Uyo last Friday, and Adams admitted that it was a difficult encounter.

“It was a very tough game against Madagascar, and we had to dig deep to get the win. It’s always important that we start on a good note,” he said.

Madagascar took an early lead in the game, but Adams said there was never any panic within the Nigerian camp.

“I have supreme confidence in this squad. When we conceded, we knew we had to respond and fight back. I had no fears at all about the outcome of the game,” he said.

Nigeria eventually drew level before the interval before scoring the winning goal in the second half to complete the comeback and give the home supporters something to celebrate.

While the Super Eagles secured the three points, Adams believes the remaining matches in the qualifying series will present their own challenges.

“I don’t think any game in this qualifying series will be easy — even the Tanzanians, who have already qualified. Every game will be difficult,” he said.

Attention has now turned to Guinea-Bissau, with Adams insisting that Nigeria’s objective remains unchanged.

“We want to win all our games, and the Guinea-Bissau game is no different. We’re going there full of confidence, hoping to get the three points,” he said.

The Venezia forward also expressed his belief in the squad and its ability to achieve its objective.

“Like I said before, I trust this team, and together we’re going to fight to bring glory to Nigeria and qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations,” he added.

Adams started Nigeria’s opening qualifier against Madagascar and, although he did not get on the scoresheet, remained a constant threat to the opposition defence.

The forward will now hope to play another important role as the Super Eagles take on Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L fixture.
