Nigeria athlete, Tobi Amusan will next week know her fate on alleged doing violation against her by the Athletics Integrity Unity, AIU.

This is because, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has set January 19 as the date for hearing on the appeal filed by the AIU and the World Anti-Doping Agency challenging the ruling of the Disciplinary Tribunal in World Athletics against World-record hurdler Tobi Amusan.

The AIU had reported Amusan to CAS on September 15, 2023, after a ruling of its Disciplinary Tribunal found out that she had not violated antidoping rules that call for a suspension for missing tests.

While the AIU filed its appeal on September 15, 2023, World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA followed suit two days later, and both are seeking to get the Nigerian banned for whereabout failures in 2023.

The AIU had provisionally suspended Amusan in July 2023, and issued her with a notice of charge for an anti-doping rule violation. In a statement then on Twitter, now X, the AIU said the charge would be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunal and determined before the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In a statement on X, the AIU said, “The charge will be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunal and determined before the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, January 19.”

Amusan has insisted she is a clean athlete, and she will now have to prove it again at CAS.“I am a clean athlete, and I am regularly (maybe more than usual) tested by the AIU,” she wrote on her social media page the last time the AIU issued her a notice of charge.

CAS hearings are not open to the public and are conducted in-person, by videoconference, or in a mixed format.
