Christian Eriksen, an Inter and Denmark midfielder, is expected to return to Milan next week for medical checks.

On June 12, the 29-year-old experienced a heart arrest on the field during Denmark’s UEFA Euro 2020 opener against Finland.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player had a defibrillator installed, but if the gadget is permanent, his future in Serie A will be finished.

In Italy, any contact sport is prohibited with such a device implanted, yet it is possible to compete in other leagues.

Eriksen will be in Milan next week, according to Tuttosport, to meet his teammates and new Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, as well as undergo additional medical checks.

“I also spoke to Eriksen before the Euros, not after. I counted on him. Inter did a good job in signing Calhanoglu, who is an important player. Eriksen has time to come back, we are waiting for him with open arms,” Inzaghi ensured.

UEFA has invited Eriksen to attend the UEFA Euro 2020 Final between Italy and England at Wembley Stadium this evening.
