Bayern Munich star David Alaba has reportedly revealed he refused playing for Nigeria after Golden Eaglets coaches demanded a bribe from before making the squad to the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands.

According to allnigeriasoccer, the 26-year-old Alaba, who was born in Vienna by Filipino mother and Nigerian father, was keen on playing for Nigeria’s Super Eagles before he decided to play for the country of birth, Austria.

Alaba, who can play different positions on the pitch further disclosed he trained with the likes of Lukman Haruna, Macauley Chrisantus and Rabiu Ibrahim ahead of the cadet World Cup in South Korea, impressing the coaches during the training camp.

However, Alaba moved out of camp after Eaglets’ handlers insisted on collecting money from the Bayern youngster, but his mother refused parting with a single penny.

Speaking recently, Alaba blasted the Nigeria U17 coaches, calling them ‘jokers’ and vowed not to have anything to do with any of the coaches in future.

At the last count, Alaba has carted home Austrian footballer of the year for the sixth time, aside from earning 68 caps for the European nation.

The Bayern star has also netted 13 goals for Austria and represented them at the 2016 European Championship.
