In a move to restore sanity and ensure that Nigeria football is moving in the right trajectory, the minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare has stated that the performance of Nigeria’s U-17 team at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil will be probed, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The minister disclosed this on Wednesday night after the team crashed out of the competition with a 3-1 lose to European side, Netherland.
The team which recorded two wins and two losses at the tournament also scored a total of 9 goals and conceded same number.
A performance that angered millions of Nigerians who called for immediate investigation to unravel what transpired in the team camp.
The minister, who unlike him took longer time before making a comment on the team’s outser, said that the administrators should take responsibility for their actions in ensuring timely payment of salaries and allowances of the team and their officials .
“Nigeria’s performance at the Under -17 World Cup calls for a review. Indeed, our football administration at all levels calls for a review. We must exact greater responsibility from those charged with our football administration. Timely payment of salaries and allowances vital,” he said on twitter late Wednesday night.
It could be recalled that the minister few weeks ago set up a panel to review the performance of Team Nigeria in the 2019 IAAF World Championship in Doha, Qatar. The committee’s report is currently undergoing review in the ministry and the minister has vowed not to spare any individual found culpable in the unimpressive outing by the countrybat the global competition
