Kwara Football Stakeholders Pick Toyin Olokoba As Next FA Chairman

With seven days to the much anticipated Kwara FA election, top football stakeholders in the state have anointed Alh. Toyin Olokoba to be the next chairman, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
Sports men and women in the State of Harmony will on Thursday, June 13, know who will steer football affairs in Kwara for the next four years after the election must have been conducted.
Four men are vying for the position of who becomes the next Kwara FA chairman in which one of them will replace outgoing boss Alh Busari Ishola.
These men are Alh Toyin Olokoba, Engr Idris Jibril, Alh Idris Turaya, and Alh Adebayo Owolabi Wopa.
And ahead of the election which is expected to take place at the indoor Sports hall of the Kwara State Stadium, our correspondent moved around the state to know who the people actually want.
Investigation carried out revealed that 80 percent of the voters have concluded their plans to elect Alh Toyin Olokoba as next Kwara FA chairman.
Some of these men who spoke on the condition of anonymity so as not to be seen as enemies by other candidates made it clear that Olokoba is the most qualified candidate.
“Most of us are heading to One Direction which is to vote for Toyin Olokoba because of his wealth of experience and ability to change things for good,” a stakeholder explained.
Another stakeholder who will also vote in the June 13 election confirmed that Olokoba will be the candidate to emerge champion.
“It is about who has the ability to control football in the state and not about anybody coming to contest for election. Olokoba has paid his dues in football for years and he deserves our votes,” he said.
After speaking with those who have the voting right, our correspondent also walked around the state to know the candidate people want in which their choice is Olokoba.
And while speaking to Olokoba himself, the current Ilorin East Football chairman thanked all stakeholders who have tipped him to become next FA chairman.
“Let me first and foremost thank all my people for their love ahead of the election. My records are there because I have been in football for years and I have paid my dues.
“in term of grassroots football development, I have done many things in which none of my competitors can withstand my record. I look forward to the day my people will bestow their mandate on me and I want to promise that I will make Kwarans proud,” Olokoba explained.
Apart from being the reigning chairman of Ilorin East football council, Olokoba has also served in many offices as far as Kwara football is concerned.
He was once an S.A on Sports matters to ex Governor Fatah Ahmed, ex Kwara United sole administrator and also chairman in which under him 100 percent sign on fees was paid to players.
