Malawian FA Meets Government, Tables Plans To Resume Football

The Football Association of Malawi, FAm, Monday met with the country’s Minister of sports and tabled before him the federation’s plan to resume football activities in the country, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports

The FAM on March 23rd, 2020 suspended all football activities in the country as a pre-cautionary measure against the ravaging impact of coronavirus also referred to as COVID-19

The FAM President, Walter Nyamilanda, poised to ensure the return of football activities in the country, Monday led a high-powered delegation of the FA to the ministry of sports headquarters in Lilongwe to present the FAM’s football restart proposal.

The delegation comprises of President Walter Nyamilanda, 1st Veep Jabbar Alide, Executive Committee Member and FAM Covid-19 19 Task Force Chairperson Chimango Munthali, General Secretary Alfred Gunda and Competitions Director Gomezgani Zakazaka

“A high powered @FaMalawi delegation has arrived at the Ministry of Sports Headquarters in Lilongwe to present

“A Football Restart proposal as FAM seeks guidance and approval from government to restart the game,” the federation said on its twitter handle

It added that “The delegation comprises of President Walter Nyamilanda, 1st Veep Jabbar Alide, Executive Committee Member and FAM Covid-19 19 Task Force Chairperson Chimango Munthali, General Secretary Alfred Gunda and Competitions Director Gomezgani Zakazaka.”

There are a total of 547 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Malawi with 69 recovered and 6 deaths recorded at the time of this report.
