Lagos State based club, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Football Club, MFM FC have been officially relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL 2022 season.

The Olukoya Boys 7 years league status ended on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022 following their 2-1 home loss to fellow relegation battlers, Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022.

MFM went into the matchday 36 needing a win to remain in contention to sustain their league status but two goals from the Niger State based side including a 90th minute strike by Jonas Emmanuel ensured they will not play again in the NPFL next season.

With two more matches to go, MFM is deep rooted on 20th position with 36 points from 36 matches, an average of one point per game.

Founded in 2007, the Lagos club gained promotion after dominating the Nigeria National League, NNL, the second tier league in the country, got promoted to the NPLF On 31 August 2015.

However following years of managerial turbulence leading to several changes in management, the fortunes of the club got worse and on Sunday they made a return to the lower league where they first played in 2007.

MFM FC made their historic NPFL debut as they beat the Solid Miners’ of Nasarawa United by 2–1 on tentative home soil at the Aper Aku Stadium in Markudi, Benue State of Nigeria.
