The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF through its Disciplinary Committee has condemned the League Management Company, LMC’s ridiculous decision in the use of suspended player by Jigawa Golden Stars in the just ended 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL season, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Jigawa Golden Stars fielded an ineligible/suspended player, Richard Christopher with jersey number 8 against Rivers United in their home Matchday 34.

Rivers United after losing the match by 2-1 consequently petitioned the LMC to complain against the use of the player who was to serve a match suspension following accumulation of five Yellow cards within the league season.

But the LMC in a decision on July 29 discharged Rivers United claims stating that Jigawa Golden Stars did not “intentionally feature” the said player.

However, arising from its judgement after Rivers United lodged an appeal, the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee has set aside LMC’s decision and lampooned the league organiser for taking such decision and wondered why Jigawa Golden Stars FC would seem to be absolved of taking responsibility for their action or inaction in this case.

“From the totality of the facts and evidence in this matter, this Committee is displeased with the manner the LMC handled the subject
matter of this case.

“It is noted that one of the conclusions of the
LMC after its Findings from the Decision following its investigation dated July 28, 2021 (para. 3c) ‘established that Jigawa Golden Stars are very untidy and cluttered in the management of their official registered email address and their official letter headed paper as well the administrative management of their records.’

“This Committee therefore wonders why Jigawa Golden Stars FC would seem to be absolved of taking responsibility for their action or inaction in this case,” it said.

The committee also criticised the LMC for failing to appear before it to defend it’s decision despite invitation

“This Committee is also displeased that the LMC failed to appear before it, despite being invited to do so, and considering the weighty
nature of the allegations made against it.”

Consequently, the Committee awarded a 3 points and 3 goals to Rivers United a decision yet to be implemented as relegated Jigawa Golden Stars are expected to appeal the decision to the NFF Appeal Committee.
