Captain of seven-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions, Rangers International FC of Enugu, Chukwudi Nwaodu, has said that  the team are in Ikenne, Ogun State to pick “Good result” against Remo Stars today.

The midfielder also lauded the management’s decision to fly the Flying Antelopes to Ikenne through Lagos for their NPFL matchday 2 away clash against the last season’s runner up, is a very big motivation.

The attacking midfielder stated this on Friday during the club’s pre-match media interaction ahead of their Super Sunday clash in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Rangers flew into Lagos on Saturday morning through Air Peace and reached their match venue by road.

The captain believes that such gesture by the club hierarchy will go a long way to encourage the players to do their best considering that fatigue they always experienced through road for such long journey always hampered their performance.

“Flying to Ikenne through Lagos is a very big motivation to the players, coaches and other officials because it will go a long way in reducing the stress of traveling by road and we appreciate the club management for their good work. We are motivated to get the right result in Ikenne,” he said.

He acknowledged the quality in their opponents but added that Rangers is ready to face any team and get the needed results

“We appreciate the fact that Remo Stars is one of the top sides in the league by virtue of being the runner-up in the last season but that does not make us less prepared or favorite for this fixture. We are ready for the match.

“I know and believe that we ae ready for the match. We appreciate the task ahead of us. We know it won’t be easy but we are ready to face any opponent and get the result to keep us in front.”

In the 2021/2022 season, it was honors shared when both sides clashed in Nnewi as the encounter ended 0-0 while the Ikenne side scooped the maximum points in the return leg with a 1-0 win which remains the only win enjoyed by the coach Daniel Ogunmodede’ wards in six encounters they have played with the Enugu side having two wins while three others were drawn.
