Former Super Eagles’ striker Odion Ighalo scored his first Manchester United goal at Old Trafford during the second leg clash against Club Brugge in the Round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday

Ighalo tapped in a Juan Mata cross from the right in the 34 minute of the largely one-sided encounter to give United a 2 – 0 lead against the Belgian club.

Ighalo dedicated his first ever United goal to his late sister Mary Atole.

The striker, who joined United during on deadline day in the January transfer window, was making his first start for the Red Devils in all competitions.

Ighalo becomes the first African player to score for Manchester United in all competitions since Eric Bailly in August 2017 against Swansea in the Premier League.

The Nigerian player was on for the entire 90 minutes, as Man United beat Club Brugge 5 – 0 to advance to the round of 16.

Odion Ighalo grew up supporting Manchester United. It was his dream to play for Manchester United, he’s the first ever Nigerian to score for and dedicated the goal to his sister who recently passed away.
