As the April 2021 scheduled dates for the maiden edition of Nigeria Fieldoo Challenges football trial draws closer, organisers of the event are set to visit football academies in the Federal Capital Territory to sensitise them about the European trial holding in the country.

Assistant Director of Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge, Coach Samuel Abimbola stated this while addressing the members of the FCT Football Academy owners Association.

The former U-17 and U-20 national team coach noted that the visit became paramount so as to encourage the football academy owners not to lose focus after the trial was postponed from November 2020 to April, 2021.

Coach Abimbola who had coach many Nigeria Professional Football League sides such as Gateway FC, Sunshine Stars, to name but a few, said that the trial will expose many talented players to European scouts and clubs.

Nigeria Fieldoo Challenge Assistant Director, Coach Samuel Abimbola addressing the academy owners during the meeting last week.

“Their reaction after I informed them about the Fiedoo Nigeria Challenge was fantastic. The enthusiasm in them was very high. I was able to brief them and gave them the confidence that the challenge is very much on course and is coming up in April next year. The shift in date was not by our own making but due to the pandemic ravaging humanity.

“We already agreed to have a roaster which will come out very soon where the team of Fieldoo in Nigeria will be visiting each academy during their training session to sensitise and guide them on how to prepare their players for the forthcoming challenge.

“According the enthusiasm of the academy owners, we are going to get there. A lot of people have registered and we are going to see more coming in.

We have coaches here who on their own are carrying the campaign of Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge to distant places that we are not aware of. That shows the eagerness of the academy owners to be part of the challenge. The coach told me that he is in touch with over 70 academies concerning Fieldoo Challenge.

“So, if in one area they are assuring us of over 70 academies, you know what that means.

“Fieldoo will be very much ready by April 2021 for the challenge. If not for the covid-19 that is ravaging the global community, the Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge was ready to land in Nigeria this month (November) but with the additional few months ahead, we will be ready by April,” he said.

The Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge is slated to hold from April 5th to 11th, 2020 and no fewer than 1000 thousand talented players are expected to take part in the football trial.
