Poverty Fighters Handball Club of Abuja early Sunday morning defeated Nasarawa Ambassador 30-21 in matchday 2 of the ongoing North-Central Handball Championship in Makurdi, Benue State.

The Abuja-based side showed class and dexterity as they outsmarted their neighbours in a keenly contested encounter.

Boosted by their Saturday morning disappointing draw when Premier League side, Benue Buffaloes came from behind to snatch a 20-20 draw, the Coach Abdullahi Jibrin-led lads unleashed their venom on the Ambassadors with reckless abandon.

Musa Mohammed who won the Most Valuable Player award against Buffaloes once again orchestrated the onslaught with skillful play and all-round performance.

Poverty Fighters will take on former Prudent Energy Handball Premier League champions, Niger United on Monday morning. A match coach Jibrin believes will see the best of his boys

“We take them one game at a time. Our victory today is a product of hard work and I commend the lads for always being positive.

“Tomorrow is another day with a great match against another established team. We are not losing sleep over the match. The boys are ready to play. Our opponents have existing pedigree but that will not count in the court tomorrow,” he said.

Poverty Fighters Vs Niger United will kick-off by 7:30am.
