After suffering a 1-0 loss on Friday in an international friend against Africa champions, Algeria, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will undergo another test for coronavirus on Monday ahead of another friendly encounter with Tunisia, can report.

The Super Eagles camp was thrown into confusion ahead of the Algeria clash when report emerged that four unnamed players of the team had tested positive to the dreaded virus.

But the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF came out to ‘deny’ the report stating that the coach of the side, Gernot Rohr was quoted out of context in the said report.

The Eagles will battle the Tunisians in their second friendly on Tuesday at the Jacques Lemmans Arena in Sankt Veit an der Glan, Austria

The entire squad of players and officials had tested negative for COVID-19 after undergoing tests on Thursday, before the 1-0 defeat to Algeria in Klagenfurt on Friday.

The Nigeria Football Federation announced the results on Twitter on Friday.

 “All @NGSuperEagles players and officials test negative to COVID 19 ahead of the game against Algeria tonight,” the NFF wrote on its Twitter page.


The Super Eagles are going into the match under immense pressure to improve their play after the put-up a below par display against the reigning Africa champions.

After the Tuesday match, the Eagles will regroup again in first week of November as the take Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a home-and-away 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The first leg will be played in a yet to be determined venue in Nigeria on November 13th while the return leg will be on November 17, 2020.Nigeria currently tops Group L of the race with 6 points from two matches. Other teams in the group include Lesotho and Benin Republic.

The Nigeria vs Tunisia match will hold be 7:30pm Nigeria time.
