The 21-year-old became the first Nigerian in 16 years to qualify for the Olympic games in the sport of Taekwondo, after just three years of competing and five years of training.

In Africa’s first online Taekwondo Entertainment Talk Show, the 300 level Statistics undergraduate of the Federal University of Technology revealed her objective is to be on the podium when the Olympics kicks off in 2021.

“Combined with my trust in God, I like to dream and to believe. This is why I am here today. So yes, I dream and believe I will be on the podium when the Olympics takes off next year. I just need to work hard and need the prayers and support of Nigerians”

The All African Games bronze medalist and defending national champion also explain the need for an official twitter account.

“I am kind of an introvert and I have largely shied away form social media. But it is important that I also tell my story and people follow my journey. Who knows who might be inspired to also dream like I have, and who might also want to support my dream.”

The updated competition schedule by the Tokyo 2020-one organizers shows that Elizabeth is due to compete on 26 July 2020 in the female -67kg category.

Covid-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the Asian and European qualification tournament which would produce the remaining six slots for the female -67kg Olympic taekwondo event.

For the Taekwondo event, 128 qualified athletes battle for 32 Olympic medals across eight Olympic categories, including male -58kg, -68kg, -80kg, +80kg and female -49kg, -57kg, -67kg, +67kg categories.
