The return of Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi to club football duties on Saturday ended in defeat as his club Union Berlin lost 2-0 away in Bundesliga matchday 21 clash against Augsburg.

Awoniyi who returned to his club after unsuccessful Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Nigeria national team in Cameroon, started the match but last for 75 minutes before he was subbed off.

Michael Gregoritsch scored the opener for the host in 16tn minute before Andre Hahn scored the second a minute before the hour mark.

The defeat leaves Union Berlin 4th on the log with 35 points, they are 15 points below league leaders, Bayern Munich.
