A Tanzanian fan has pleaded with the Flamingos of Nigeria to beat the Columbian ladies as a way of avenging their defeat at the hands of the Americans.

Columbian ladies were victorious on Saturday when they exchanged tackles with Tanzania’s women in the ongoing U-17 World Cup Tournament in India

“The only way our anger for our opponents (Columbia) will be appeased is if the Flamingos beat them on their next matchday,” she told NPFL Updates.

“Columbia is a tough opposition, but I believe the West African ladies will get a better part of them. I wish them well, and our prayers are with them,” she added.

Flamingos tackle Colombia in the first semi-final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa on Wednesday by 12noon WAT.

Nigeria will take on Colombia in the semi-finals of the U-17 Women’s World Cup at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The Flamingos under head coach Bankole Olowookere reached the last four after eliminating favourites USA 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal and added time at D Y Patil Sports Stadium on Friday.

Nigeria’s journey in the competition started with a 2-1 Group B defeat against Germany before they recovered to defeat New Zealand 4-0 and Chile 2-1 to storm the quarter-finals.
