2020/2021 NNL: Road Safety FC Held To A Goalless Draw By ABS
The Road Safety FC (FRSC FC team) of Abuja began their 2020/2021 Nigeria National League NNL season with a barren draw against ABS FC of Ilorin in Abuja Saturday
The encounter got on a sound footing flipping together excellent passes to the admiration of few watching spectators but no goal to show for their display in the first half.
ABS FC too had a fair share of possession in the first half but were never a threat.
However on resumption into the second half the two teams approached the game with a bit of caution and slowly grew in tempo, especially the FRSC boys who dominated the field in order to secure their first 3 point in the league but was denied by the away team.
FRSC FC exhausted their five subtitutions with Ibrahim Tanimu to replace Sodo,Ruben Okoro for Jame Samson. Shortly after the restart of second half Elias came in for Jerry, Chizoba Emmanuel for Yahaya Suleman while Musa Mohammed came in for Edeh Philip.
ABS FC defense seems not to have answer to all the subtitutions as they could not curtail the firing power of the trio.
The FRSC boys grew in more confidence as the game approach the closing state, causing the away team all sort of troubles, they however has an across from the right foot back and was brilliantly saved by ABS goalkeeper (Boje Abdullahi) many goal chances was missed in the game.
At the end of the match the two teams secured 1 point each.
Speaking to journalists in his post-match briefing, coach of the home side, Akin Onigbinde said the home draw was not what the planned and attributed the situation to lack of proper planning.
He however expressed confidence that the boys will get it right going forward
His counterpart, Coach Tony of ABS said although the 1 point was a good one, he noted that if not for fatigue, his boy would have picked the available three points at stake.
