Enyimba International FC coach, Finidi George have blamed lack of defensive awareness as the reason for the People’s Elephant defeat against Nasarawa United in one of the matchday 10 clashes on Wednesday, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The midweek encounter saw eight-time champions, Enyimba return to the Lafia City Stadium where they had previously picked three maximum points off the hosts.
However, they suffered a 2-1 defeat despite taking the lead first.
Speaking after the match, Coach Finidi bemoaned lack of detailed attention to instructions by his rearguards adding that based on their performance, the visitors deserved to leave Lafia with a point
“It’s so sad that we had to lose here,” the former Super Eagles winger started.
“In the first half, we had a better spell, but we didn’t take few of our chances.
“I think we would have done better, and we should have defended after their equaliser but they had everything working for them – the fans were behind them and they were playing at home, so the confidence was there for them.
“Some defensive errors caused us the game. But we have to turn the page as quickly as possible and see how we can bounce back.
“Generally, I must compliment Nasarawa United for coming strongly from behind to win the game, else, we deserved something better from today’s game – maybe a draw would have been better.”
