North-Central Championship: Nasarawa State Sports Commissioner Receives Victorious Para-athletes

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Othman Bala Adam, on Monday, received athletes and officials of the State’s Para-Athletics team the won the 2020 North Central para-athletic National Sports Festival qualification held in Abuja, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The team emerged as champions of the 2nd Edition of the North-Central Zonal Para-Athletics Championship held on Sunday, 27th September, 2020, at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.

The Commissioner, shortly after the reception held at his office in Lafia, congratulated the team on the great feat achieved, urging them to remain focused.

“Congratulations on this great feat, and we are so proud of you and the milestone achievement. You have, once again, demonstrated that there is ability in disability.

“This feat could be attributed to the reforms embarked upon by the State’s Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in line with the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa State.

“This administration is determined to restore the old glory of sports in the State. I urge you never to relent. You should work towards winning subsequent events”, he said.

He promised to lead the victorious team to Governor Abdullahi Sule in no distant time for a special recognition.

Speaking earlier, Secretary of the State Para-Sports Association, Patricia Oshuwayine, who accompanied the team to the Championship, thanked the Governor and Commissioner as well as the Ministry for approving funds for their participation at the one-day event.

She said they are determined to sustain the tempo and set new records. Othman Bala Adam, had on Sunday, in a statement, congratulated the Nasarawa State Para-Athletics team for winning the Championship after garnering a total of fourteen medals, consisting thirteen Gold and one Silver medals respectively ahead of F.C.T. Abuja, Plateau, Niger, and Benue States accordingly.
