Abia Warriors FC Go Spiritual As Imama’s Sack Looms
By Amaechi Agbo
2 points from 6 matches and placed 19th in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL table is the fate of Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia and the Club has gone spiritual to seek for solutions to their woes.
The club is deeprooted in the relegation mud despite signing quality players ahead of the new season with a new coach, Imama Amapakabo installed.
After losing four matches consecutively, the management of the club two weeks ago gave the head coach and his technical crew three-match ultimatum to improve the club’s performances or be sacked.
After two matches since the directive, the club has been able to pick just two points from available 6 and as the ultimatum is set to expire this weekend with a clash away against Lobi Stars, uncertainties loom.
In order to avert the looming sack and challenges that would follow, the club has declared a two-day prayer and fasting to seek the face of God to salvage the situation
Announcing the two-day spiritual exercise Tuesday in a release signed by Pastor Osoka Okorie for the Abia Warriors Management, he noted that the prayer and fasting which will commence on Wednesday, January 27 through to Thursday 28 from 6am to 12noon everyday is “compulsory for every member of the family ie Board, Staff, Management and players of the club.”
The release further directed that “Everyone is expected to abstain from food and drinks from 8am till 12pm everyday.”
