The head coach of Akwa United, Kennedy Boboye has been handed a one-man ban and fined N250, 000 by the League Management Company, LMC following his unguarded comment against match officials in the game against Heartland FC in the Matchday 6 encounter in Owerri on Sunday Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Boboye was said to have criticised the match officials that handled their encounter against Heartland on Sunday.
Comments the LMC finds repulsive and degrading to the integrity of the league.

In a release on Tuesday, the LMC noted that Boboye’s comment contravened rules of the league in making comments.

“Akwa Utd coach Kennedy Boboye been charged with breach of paragraph 7 of the Framework and Rules of the NPFL for making public comments in criticism of match officials.

“The comments made after the Heartland vs Akwa Utd match amounted to a breach of paragraph 7 of Appendix B: Code of Conduct for Managers and Coaches (public criticism of match officials) and C1.1 (misconduct) of the Framework and Rules of the NPFL.

“For the breach, a fine of N250,000 has been imposed on Boboye and a ban from NPFL match(es) and activities for a period of one match (i.e, the next match – Matchday 7),” the charge read.

With the ban taking immediate effect, Coach Boboye will miss Matchday 7 home clash against Kano Pillars in Uyo.
