Plateau State Teqball Association, Plateq Chairman, Mr Miri Timnan Nyantau has stated that his appointment as United Nations’ Mayor of Peace, (MyrP) will spur him to consolidate on peace initiatives he has embarked upon in Jos, Plateau State capital for years, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
Mr Nyantau, popularly called “MTN” stated this in an exclusive chart with our correspondent over the weekend.
The Proprietor/Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Daushep Lar Memorial Hospital Gazum who expressed delight over the gesture and showered ecomium on the United Nations, UN for finding him worthy of such global recognition, described his new award as surprising but inspiring
“Honestly, I was surprised about the appointment because I never knew that the little work we do over here is being monitored not just in the country but by the United Nations. This is indeed inspiring.
“I do not consider the little efforts we are making over here in Jos in restoring and achieving a peaceful society as work because it is something I do with passion and everything I have.
“This recognition and appointment no doubt will spur me to consolidate on the peace initiatives and programmes I have been actively involved in for more than a decade
“I want to express my profound gratitude to the United Nations for finding me worthy to be bestowed with this prestigious honour. I am grateful,” he said.
Mr Nyantau was on September 21 appointed Mayor of Peace, MyrP, by the United Nations in an investiture held in Lagos.
United Nations Mayor of Peace was created in 1997 as a mechanism through which global peace could be achieved and those who play prominent roles in helping the world to attain the mission are inducted into the MyrP.
