Super Eagles of Nigeria winger, Samuel Chukwueze has resumed training with his club, Villarreal following a lengthy lay-off through injury, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
The former Diamond Football Academy in Abia State returned to training during the week ahead of their match against Real Betis in the La Liga Santander.
The Nigeria international has been out of action since May 6 when he was injured in the club’s first leg Europa League game away to Arsenal at the Emirates, a game that ended 0-0, with the Spanish outfit eventually advancing 2-1 on aggregate.
The injury eventually ruled the forward out of the tournament’s final against Manchester United, and the Super Cup loss to Champions League winners Chelsea.
Chukwueze has also been forced to miss the Yellow Submarines’ six opening La Liga matches and the Group F Champions League opening match against Atalanta.
The winger confirmed his return to training on his Facebook page on Saturday.
With the caption, “Feels good”, the 22-year old posted pictures of himself and teammates in training.
It is not clear if Unai Emry would rush the pacey attacker into Sunday’s game but his returning to fitness is a boost for the Yellow Submarines as they aim to navigate a difficult Champions League Group as well as improve on their domestic league
Villarreal are currently 12th on the La Liga table with 8 points from 6 games.
