CONFUSION: National Youth Games Postponed, Organisers Announce Two Days As Opening Ceremony

Confusion has trailed the 2021 National Youth Games, NYG as the competition slated to commence on Wednesday has been posted even as organisers of the youth games have announced conflicting two days as opening ceremony, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The 6th edition of the NYG was initially scheduled to hold in University of Illorin, Kwara State starting from Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
Buy the Director of Grassroots Sports Development in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr Bode Durotoye announced via a press statement that the opening ceremony planned to hold on Wednesday has been postponed by 24 hours to now hold on Thursday, October 14.
“The Director of Grassroots Sports Development in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr Bode Durotoye has also confirmed a slight adjustment to the time line of the National Youth Games with the opening ceremony initially scheduled for Wednesday, 13th October, 2021, now moved to Thursday, 14th October, 2021,” the statement shared on social media by one of the aides to Sunday Dare, Minister of youth and sports, said.
MOC Announces New Date
But in a twist of event, the Main Organising Committee, MOC for the Games have announced new dates for screening and opening ceremony for the competition.
The MOC in a press statement Wednesday evening signed by Bashari Ahmed Maizare, Chairman Directors’ Forum and Dr. Bode Aili Durotoye, MOC Chairman; announced that the screening of athletes will now hold on Thursday 14% October, 2021 by 8.00am at the Sports Unit University Gymnasium while the opening ceremony will hold on Friday 15 October, 2021.
The MOC while apologising for inconveniences suffered by delegates to the Games however said that other events remain as planned.

The Main Organizing Committee of the 6″ National Youth Games;
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development apologies for the shortcoming experienced by the various contingents to this year’s Games,
In a bid to ensure smooth running of the Games, after extensive contributions and deliberations with the State Directors of Sports and other relevant stakeholders wish to state the followings;
That Participating States yet to arrive at the venue of the Games are expected to arrive on or before Wednesday 13″ October 2021.
That the Screening of athletes will now hold on Thursday 14% October, 2021 by 8.00am at the Sports Unit University Gymnasium.
The Opening ceremony will now hold on Friday 15 October, 2021. All other events would hold as earlier scheduled.
We wish to commend the Honourable Minister of Youth & Sports Development for his swift intervention, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Suleiman Age Abdulkareem and the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic Dr. (Engr.) Jimoh Abdul Mohammed for their support and understanding.
