Nigeria To Know World Cup Play-off Foes On Saturday
The Confederation of Africa Football, CAF have disclosed that the draw for the 2022 FIFA Worlds Cup Play-off will hold on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
The Africa’s football umpire stated this on Monday in a release adding that the draw will hold in Cameroon’s city of Douala
According to CAF, the FIFA ranking of November 2021 would be used to seed the teams ahead of the draw.
“The 10 qualified teams will be divided into two levels based on the official FIFA ranking, published in November 202.”
The five highest ranked teams will play against the five least ranked teams while the first leg will be played at home of the lower ranked teams
The ranking published on 19 November 2021 shows that Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria are in pot one
Whereas pot 2 has Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and DR Congo
The teams in pot 1 will be paired against the teams in pot 2.
The five overall winners of the play-offs will represent Africa at the 22nd edition of the FIFA Worlds Cup which holds between November 21 and December 18, this year.
