“I’m Ready For A Sixth World Cup” – Onome Ebi Declares…Sets Semi-final Target For Super Falcons

Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi has declared that she is ready for her sixth FIFA Women’s World Cup next month.

The 40 year-old who is named by Coach Randy Waldrum among the 23-woman final squad for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand also set a semi-final target for her teammates.

Ebi, who celebrated her 40 years birthday on May 8 is optimistic that the Super Faclcons can go beyond their Round of 16 stage which they reached in France 2019 and play in the last four.

She noted that the present crop of Falcons have the experience and youthfulness to surmount any hurdles they would face in Australia and New Zealand

“As a team, we want to do better than we did at the 2019 World Cup in France. Being totally honest, I think we can aim for the semi-finals. We’ve got high-quality, experienced players and some really talented youngsters.

“It really is doable, and it’s up to us to grab the chance with both hands and show the world that we are Nigeria and that we’re not just there to make up the numbers.

“I’m ready for a sixth World Cup, and we’re ready as a team,” she said in an interview.
