former Golden Eaglets captain, Simon Cletus Karshe, has been named in the team that will tackle Derry City of Northern Ireland in their Confluence Ceague clash on Thurday evening.

Fresh from Nigeria, Africa to Europe at 18 years old, this giant feat in the development of the very skillful midfielder is coming just few months after signing his first professional contract with Rijeka of Croatia, and this speaks volume to how he is highly rated by the technical crew of Rijeka.

The former Mavlon FC midfielder was invited to the Flying Eagles camp, where he dazzled the Abdul Maikaba – led technical crew of the team, playing some friendly games, before he resumed for pre-season in Croatia with Rijeka.

The initial plan was for him to be back to the Flying Eagles ahead of the WAFU B U 20 Championship in Ivory Coast, but Rijeka did not release him for the regional qualifying tournament and his importance is very evident with him being named in the squad to battle Derry City tonite.

It was also scooped that Maikaiba is favourably disposed with making the midfielder the captain of the Flying Eagles if he had made it to the camp for the WAFU B U20 Championship
