President Muhammadu Buahri has endorsed the candidature of former Nigeria Football Federation president, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdulahi for the August 29 All Progressives Congress, APC’s primary election for Kogi State governorship election
In continuation of his popular acceptance by groups and individuals, former NFF President, Alhaji Lulu, Friday received President Muhammadu Buhari’s blessing for the forthcoming August 29 governorship primary election in Kogi State.
Alhaji Lulu who on Thursday obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the ruling party at the cost of N22.5 million, has promised a total turnaround in the lives, development and infrastructure of the state.
The endorsement, Best Choice Sports gathered, was part of activities carried out when the Trustee (Sani Lulu) led the members of Buhari Support Group Centre to the President at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock Abuja on Friday on courtesy visit.
All though details of the visit remained sketchy at the time of this report, it was gathered that the President thanked the group for their support in actualising the Next Level mandate during the March 2019 general elections.
The President also assured the Kogi governorship aspirant and all other aspirants for the exalted position of a level playing ground both during the party’s primary and the election proper.
Former President of NFF Alhaji Lulu Thursday purchased the gubernatorial form of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the primary election and promised to enthrone transparent leadership if voted in by the people of Kogi State.
He expressed optimism that he will defeat the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello in the primary if given a level playing ground.
Mr Fix as Alhaji Lulu is fondly called stormed APC National Secretariat in Abuja at about 12 noon and went straight to pick the form amidst unprecedented cheers from supporters that trooped into the nation’s capital.
He said, “It is not how wealthy you are but how you are able to use your position to transform the lives of people.
“If you are transparent you pay salary on time, you implement projects that will benefit the people.”
Lulu said his experience as a Director of Sports and later NFF President had prepared him for the tasks ahead.
He said he would accept whatever mode of primary adopted by the national leadership of the party for Kogi state.
The APC National Working Committee had adopted an indirect primary for Kogi.
This had sparked reactions from other aspirants who said the decision was to the advantage of Governor Yahya Bello, who is seeking a return ticket.
But Lulu said he would accept the final decision of the party on the matter as a true-party man.
“I’m loyal to the APC and I’m sure the party will do the right thing. I’m here to serve my state. The most relevant and tested politicians in Kogi have endorsed my candidacy.
“One important thing is to unite everybody in Kogi. I will work with elders, youths, and women; they have all blessed me. Where I worked before, there were no resources and I made a great impact. I shall do my best if given the opportunity.”
As at Friday August 2nd, 2019, a total of 7 aspirants have picked their tickets under APC for the November election.
Yahaya Bello is the incumbent governor who is seeking for reelection.
