Dreamland/Embassy Of Hungary Cup: Defending Champions Impressive In FC Ifeanyi Ubah Friendly

Determined to defend their trophy at the 7th edition of Dreamland/Embassy of Hungary Cup, defeding champions, Dreamland Football Academy Wednesday ended their preparatory matches for the tournament with 1-2 lose to Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The match which ended the Abia State based Academy unbeaten run for many games, came after the recorded a 1-0 and 2-0 wins against Nigeria National League, NNL, sides Nnewi United and Udala FC respectively.

Speaking with our correspondent in Nnewi after the match Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer, Dreamland Football Academy, Cheif Ndudi Ebede praised his boys for given the former FA Cup champioms a run for their money.

He said that though the aim of the friendly was not to win butnto fortify the team ahead of next weeks commencement of the 7th edition of the Dreamland/Hungary of Embassy Cup, he commended the boys for putting up an impressive performance and declared that from the last preparatory match, the academy is poised to defend the title it won in the 6th edition.

“It was our last preparatory game for the 7th Dreamland/Embassy of Hungary Cup. Usually when we are preparing our team for a major competion, we start with lesser games and end it with a tougher one. The last game we usually approach it like our first game of the tournament to fully asscess the strenght of the team.

“So now I can tell you that we are very ready to defend the trophy. Besides, we still have about 70% of the boys that won the last edition and the few new ones in the team has learn quite fast.

“You can recall that we played Nnewi United and Udala FC in our last two games and won 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.

“This time we tried a tougher opponent and we lost 1 -2. Although the objective was not for us to go and win Ifeanyiuba rather to use the game to finally access the team’s readiness and make corrections where neccessary and that is what we achieved.

“Kudos to the players, the technical crew and the back room staff for given the NPFL side a run for their money.

“Remember this team has been unbeaten until today (yesterday) since winning the trophy in the last edition. Really, I am proud of them if for nothing, at least for getting the trophy for us for the first time in the sixth editions. I know all eyes are on them but I can tell you they are not gonna play under pressure rather they will enjoy themselves with a good brand of fooftball.”
