Abdulmumin Jimoh emerged champion of the Masters category at the 2026 Governor Douye Diri National Scrabble Classic after a commanding performance in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, South-South, Nigeria.

Jimoh finished top of the standings after 18 rounds with an impressive 15 wins and three losses, recording a remarkable spread of +1127 to seal the prestigious title ahead of a highly competitive field.

Ufuoma Imah claimed second place with a 13-5 record and a spread of +692, while Emmanuel Umujose also finished on 13-5 but settled for third with a +651 spread.

The battle for the podium remained intense throughout the competition, with Oghenetega Okiemute and David Ojih completing the top five after both ended with 12 wins and six losses.

For his outstanding performance, Jimoh smiled home with a cash prize of ₦2 million, the highest reward in the Masters category.

The organisers also announced a total prize pool of ₦20 million for the tournament, which was shared across the five categories, Masters, Intermediate, Open, Veterans and Students, underscoring the commitment of the Bayelsa State Government the tournament sponsors to the continued growth of scrabble in Nigeria.
