Super Falcon’s combative midfielder, Deborah Abiodun will miss the team’s Round of 16 match at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup, Australia and New Zealand 2023.

The 19-year-old will miss the team’s knockout stage encounter on August 7 following the straight red card she reciveied in the team’s opening Group B 0-0 draw with Canada.

It was hoped that the former Rivers Angels star would be available for the team’s last group B match on Monday but she was conspicuously missing after FIFA reviewed her card offence.

FIFA conducted a review of Abiodun Deborah’s red card in the match against Canada and upgraded her suspension from one to three match ban.

Abiodun has already missed two matches – against Australia and Ireland and will also miss the Super Falcons Round of 16 clash. The nine-time Africa champions would face the winner of Group D in the Last 16 encounter

She was effective in her debut match and would be missed in the team’s next match.
The Super Falcons booked their Round of 16 ticket after they played a goalless draw against Republic of Ireland in their last Group B match on Monday.

The Randy Waldrum led ladies will face Group D winners on August 7. The Group D last matches will be decided on Tuesday with England, Denmark and China all potential opponents for the Super falcons depending on the outcome of their matches.
