DR Congo have shown interest in Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

The Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) is looking at Rohr as a possible replacement for Florent Ibenge who quit as head coach of the Leopards on Wednesday, ending his five-year spell with the team.

Rohr qualified the Super Eagles for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with one game to spare, and led Nigeria to third place finish in Egypt.

Congo online news outlet, Congoprofound.net, report that Constant Omari, president of FECOFA, has established contacts with Rohr over a possibility of taking up the job.

57-year-old Ibenge had been in charge of Dr Congo since August 2014 and led the Leopards to a Round of 16 finish at the AFCON 2019.

DR Congo have qualified for three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations finals under his watch.

In 2015, they finished in third place, and two years later reached the quarter-finals.
