The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL Kick-off date has been indefinitely postponed, again, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The league which was originally scheduled to commence this Saturday, September 9 will no longer start as planned as the organisers have announced that the commencement date has “been put on hold’.

The league organisers confirmed the postponement in a letter dated September 6, signed by the chief executive officer, Davidson Owomi sent to all the chairmen and General Managers of the 20 clubs in the league.

In the letter made available to our correspondent, the League Board said that the halt in the kick-off date was necessitated by exigences relating to the sponsorship of the league.

“The Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) wish to inform you that the scheduled kickoff for the 2023/24 season has been put on hold and a new date will be communicated to you. This is due to the exigencies connected to the sponsorship of the League,” part of the letter reads.

It emphasized that there will be no flag-off match this Saturday urging all the affected clubs to comply.

“Note therefore that there will be no flag-off game this Saturday, September 9 as originally planned.

“This is for your information and necessary action please.”

Recall that the 2023/2024 league season was originally scheduled to commence on August 26, last month. It was however shifted to September 9 to, according to the board, allow the sponsors to install their live streaming equipment across the selected ten stadiums.
