The 3rd edition of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Football Coaches Council Gala/Award Night ceremony holds on Friday, December 13, 2019.
The event which marks the end of year programme of the council was instituted 4 years ago to celebrate football men and women, administrators, as well as journalists who distinguished themselves in the promotion and development of the round leather game within the FCT in the year under review.
The 2019 ceremony is a combination of two years programme after the 2018 edition could not hold due to logistical problems.
In an interview with the secretary of the council, Coach Inyang Emmanuel, he noted that AMAC football Coaches Council is affiliated to Nigeria Football Coaches Association, FCT Chapter. Adding that for years the council have been organising Gala/Award Night to celebrate administrators who have impacted in Football around FCT.
“This year’s event will recognise and celebrate certain individuals who have done tremendously well in the FCT football.
“This award night have been previously held in two instances, we had the first one in 2016, the second one was in 2017 now the 3rd edition comes up in 2019 and will be taking an overview of two years which covers 2018 to look at what administrators have done.
“We are not just rewarding people who have won tournaments or trophies, we are identifying people who have impacted in the development of football in the FCT. We look at the contributions of those who have helped in discovering talents and those who have committed their personal resources to ensure that these boys are engaged. We are rewarding those who have been able to touch the lives of those around them in football in the FCT.
“In our culture, we do not just look at the administrators, we also look at the young players who have performed well with commitment in tournaments. We are talking about the youth players who are in the Under 13, 15 categories. We are going to recognise them and reward them for their performance and commitment to the round leather game and the tournaments we have organised in the course of the year.
“We believe that the recognition we accord them will motivate them to do greater in the future towards becoming future stars.
“We are also going to honour coaches who have excelled in football, who have given their all and contributed towards the reformation of football and the Nigeria Football Coaches Association. And also coaches who have achieved success in the world map within the FCT enclave. We will celebrate their success and achievement in the year covered.
“This year’s will hold this Friday, 13th of December, 2019 at Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium, in Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja. There will be maximum security provide for dignitaries who will be coming to the event. Security agents will be on ground to ensure its success. It is going to be a colourful event,” he said.
The theme of this year’s ceremony is “Celebration of Excellence”.
